TBSS Landout Hall of Fame

It’s been said that if you are not landing out occasionally while X-Country flying… you are not trying hard enough!  Here are a few TBSS members who are trying just a little too hard!

Bruce Patton – April 8, 2017 – Dade City

Landout at Patton International in Dade City

Doug Norman – May 10, 2017 – Field of Dreams

Doug is thinking ” those fences on either side of the runway sure look a lot closer when you are on the ground”

Randy Morningstar – February 18, 2018 – Dade City

Smiling because he landed right behind a Publix grocery store.  He was able to grab a bite while waiting for the ground crew to show up!

Jim Zombakis – April 13, 2019 – Flanders Field

That’s customer service. One of the home-owners towed Jim back to the other end of the landing field!

John Kamis   – April 17, 2019 – Dade City

Exciting landout experience for John and a new member!

Jim Zombakis – June 3, 2019 – Cordele GA Region 5 Contest

3 miles short of the home field. At least I missed the cotton plants
Trying to figure out how to fit WW in the trailer without taking its wing’s off!
Bruce and Steve thanking Jim for the opportunity to retrieve his glider in the 100 degree GA heat!

Jim Zombakis – Feb 17, 2020 – Kamis International Airport (Dade City)

Beautiful sky … I dropped below the lift band!

Oct 27, 2020 – Sad day for TBSS.  All four pilots landed out at different airfields north of Seminole Lakes.

Randy relaxing in the rain at Grass Roots
Paul starting to take J9 apart for the short drive back to Seminole Lakes!
Jim Z happy to be down at Flying Gator before the heavy rains started!
Jim Z waiting for his tow-out at Flying Gator!
Bruce and Matt had to resort to the “Iron Thermal” to avoid their land-out near Osborne!
