What does it cost to join and fly at TBSS?
Full Membership: Membership Initiation Fee of $500.00, Semi-Annual Fee of $250.00 (Prorated on a calendar year to new members). Payments are due on April 1 and October 1.
Family Membership: (additional members in same household of an existing Full Membership) Membership Initiation Fee of $250.00, Semi-Annual Fee of $125.00 (Prorated on a calendar year to new members). Payments are due on April 1 and October 1.
If for any reason the Full Membership person in the Family is no longer a member then the Family Membership member needs to begin make the full Semi-Annual Fee payments of $250.
Student Membership: (full
time student under the age of 25): Membership Initiation Fee of
$250.00, Semi-Annual Fee of $125.00 (Prorated on a
calendar year to new members) Payments are due on April 1 and
October 1. When the student is
no longer a full time student or turns 25 the Semi-annual Fee changes to $250
on the next semi-annual due date.
30 Day Membership: Pilots or students who have not previously been active members of TBSS may join for up to two consecutive 30 day periods starting on the day the 30 day membership fee of $150 is paid on their first visit. All past members including previously Full TBSS members may join the club for a period of 30 days starting on the day the fee of $150 is paid provided there are no outstanding charges from previous visits. Successive memberships must be separated by no less than 9 months. A flight/field check-out and SSA membership are mandatory before flying.
SSA Annual membership is required for all TBSS categories of Membership. Regular Members pay $69.00, Youth and Family membership $39.00. SSA membership fees are billed in November and paid in December through TBSS for the coming year. Members who have SSA membership through other clubs need to show proof of SSA membership elsewhere
(Membership fees are prorated on a calendar year to new members). TBSS members with expired SSA membership can not fly with our gliders, since flying without SSA membership invalidates our insurance policy.
Semi-Annual Fees are payable by the 15th paid to the Treasurer or Line Chief by cash, check or charge.
Late payment will add Late Fee charges ($10/Month) to your balance.
If members leave the club for valid reason (like serious medical problems) does not have to pay the initiation fee again after they return to the club activity. This will be evaluated by the board of directors on case by case basis. Members neglect to pay the membership fees and neglect notifying the board of directors will be removed from membership.roster.
The membership will only be reinstated after the member paying the outstanding balance and re-initiation fee of $250.
Introductory Membership / Gift Certificates and First Time Glider Flights
Guest will obtain a one day TBSS membership for a fee of $100.00 (if rider joins the club within six months, $50.00 of the intro ride fee will be credited toward membership initiation fee). If you have a group of 5 or more, the intro rides are reduced to $85.00 each.
Introductory Flight Form and first time glider flights

Aero tow Fees:
$1.00 per 100'
ft. plus a $10.00 surcharge.
Example ( A flight to 3000' ft. AGL at a dollar per hundred feet is $30.00 plus the $10.00 surcharge for a total of $40.00
Tow fees shall be paid to the Treasurer, Line Chief or placed in the brown box on the day of your flight. Unpaid Tow charges will add Late Payment Fees of 5% per month to your balance.
Off Field Retrieval:
$100.00 per hour for a recovery via aero tow. Time starts when the tow plane takes off from Zephyrhills and stops when tow plane returns to Zephyrhills.Retrieve fees shall be paid to the Treasurer, Line Chief or placed in the brown box on the day of your flight. Unpaid Retrieve charges will add Late Payment Fees of 5% per month to your balance.
$20 per hour (one-half hour increments: Paid to CFI-G)
Sailplane Rental Fees:
There are no rental fees for gliders.
Pilots who land out at TBSS and require an aero tow can be towed out for a courtesy fee of $50 to 3000 feet. Pilots must be members of SSA.
The courtesy fee includes a one day membership in TBSS.
Repair Shop Usage Fees:
Members using the shop for the repair on the private gliders shall pay at least a minimum fee of $20/week to cover the expenses for increased utility bill.
Tie down and Trailer Storage Fees:
Members with private gliders pay tie-down fee $10/Month. Trailers parked on the runway side of the ditch pay $5.00/Month.
Trailers parked on the Club House side are free of charge for paying club members.
Nonmembers shall not store private property on the club facilities unless they pay storage fee of $30/month for a trailer size area.
All Trailer and stored property owner must sign a Liability Release Form for stored property.
